Aquamarine Novel VS Movie

Because this month there is Halloween Day, so let’s talk about mythology creature.

Have you ever read Aquamarine novel by Alice Hoffman????

It published in 2001. But I just got it yesterday LOL sound so late huh…

It tells about a friendship between Claire and Hailey, one day they found one of the mythology creature called mermaid named Aquamarine.

Now, I want to take up about the novel version and the movie version. Speak about the movie, I already watched the movie before I read the novel. After I read the novel and watch the movie again. I found many differences between the book and the movies.

Here we goes….

First, someone who moved to another country is Claire.  She and her grand parents moved to Florida. But, in the movie it was told that Hailey was someone has to move to Australia with her mother.

Second, in the movie it was told that Aquamarine is a mermaid who have good attitude, and cheerful. But in the novel it said that Aquamarine have bad attitude, pamper and so selfish.

Third, the novel said that Raymond is a cool guy who worked at the café but the movie said, Raymond is a cool guy who worked as a lifeguard.

The fourth, it told in the movie that Aquamarine could change into a human but the fact,  the book said that she just pretended being a human, and said that she got an accident. Then she used a wheelchair and cover her tail with Hailey’s mom dress.

The fifth, novel version said that Raymond already fell in love with Aquamarine, the movie version said it not.

The last, Aquamarine did not give them a stars earing but she give them pair of seashell to listen someone their really miss.
